The Sea-Dweller is the most technical model in the Rolex lineup; firstly introduced in the late ’60s in order to satisfy the demand of a watch that could sustain pressures well above 20ATM during submarine operations. The reference 16600 is an evolution of the previous ref. 1665, which presents numerous refinements; including a sapphire glass and a more effective helium escape valve, which allow it to reach a significant maximum depth of 4000ft-1220m.
